The ASTM G65 dry abrasion tester is used to determine the resistance of materials to low stress sliding abrasion. In this method, an abrasive material is fed through a dispensing nozzle at a constant feed rate between the test specimen and a rotating  rubber wheel. The test specimen is held against the rubber wheel with a constant force, while the wheel rotates at a constant speed. This system is used to produce data that will reproducibly rank materials with respect to abrasion resistance.
